What are learning assessments?
Learning assessments are knowledge tests that help us accurately place you at the right level in our programming.
We base the type of learning assessments you complete (e.g., English, reading and writing, math, biology, physics, and chemistry) on the program you select (literacy vs. high school) and your teacher’s discretion.
Note: Plan to be here for 1-2 hours.
BLC learning assessments:
- Must be completed in the classroom.
- Take 1-2 hours to complete.
- Are vital to our registration process because they help us accurately place you at the right level in our programming.
What happens after I complete my assessments?
Your teacher will review your assessments and discuss them with you to plan your learning goals.
Want to brush up on your skills before you come in?

When you decide to write your assessments, we’ve got you covered!
You don’t need to worry about any of the following concerns:
- You don’t have to make or bring a cheat sheet. We will give you all the important reference tables and formulas you require for the assessment.
- We will provide a calculator for you—no need to bring your own.
- You don’t need to bring outside materials (they’re not allowed anyway)—just use what we give you during the test.
