Brandon Literacy Council Inc. (BLC) is a nonprofit charity that has been delivering adult education programs in downtown Brandon since 1989. BLC has both a literacy program and an adult learning centre. BLC provides customized scheduling and individualized programming to all its learners. We are currently looking to hire a full-time Administrative Assistant. This is a term position; however, there is opportunity for renewal based on performance and availability of funding for the next program year.
As a member of the BLC staff, you will be part of an easy-going, fun team that is dedicated to excellence in delivering adult education in Manitoba. You will work Monday to Friday in a relaxed and cooperative atmosphere with a semi-flexible schedule.
The ideal candidate will exhibit high standards, excellent communication skills, and have an ability to take initiative, and prioritize daily tasks. A strong ability to take charge and meet tight deadlines will ensure your success in this multi-faceted role.
Responsibilities
- Handle and coordinate active calendars
- Schedule and confirm meetings
- Ensure file organization based on office protocol
- Maintain office inventory and reorder stock as needed
- Provide ad hoc support around office as needed
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite and Basecamp
